Les Amandiers is a self catering period manor house in a beautiful elevated setting in the heart of the Dordogne region of France.
The house is in a peaceful, rural location just five minutes walk to the local village of Villamblard. It has its own entrance and is very private, which could be a key consideration for those who are vulnerable during the Covid-19 pandemic and need to remain isolated.
Villamblard is a small, pretty village with an excellent bakery and well stocked village shop. Although off the main tourist route it is within reach of medieval towns such as St Emillion, Sarlat and Domme.
Bergerac, Limoges and Bordeaux airports are all within a reasonable drive for reaching the property.
The grounds are extensive, providing plenty of scope for exploring and enjoying the outdoors without being on top of each other. Guests can take a stroll through the ancient forest and picnic by the lake.
The enclosed private 11m x 5m pool is available to use throughout stays and there are also grass areas for playing ball games and a tennis court for anyone feeling energetic.
Manoir Les Amandiers itself has six bedrooms; four doubles and two twins. There are three additional self contained apartments just across the courtyard, two of these sleep two in double beds and the other can sleep four in a double and a twin bedroom. In total the property can accommodate up to 20 people with an option for an extra couple of camp beds for small children if needed. Bed linen is provided and changed once a week*. Towels for use in the house are supplied, but not pool towels. Guests have access to a laundry room throughout their stay.
*During the Covid-19 pandemic, guests can opt not to have cleaners enter the property to change bed linen if preferred.
Within the main house there is a spacious kitchen that is well equipped with regular electrical appliances, pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, etc. The big table seats ten with another large dining table on the terrace off the kitchen that seats 12 and faces east onto the garden. The apartments each have their own small kitchens and terraces with table and chairs. Two BBQs are available for guests to use during their stay.
Other rooms in the manoir include a library piled high with all kinds of books, a cosy sitting room with a TV for cooler evenings and also a large games room that houses table tennis and billiards tables, a music system and traditional games.
Free wifi is available throughout the property and there is good mobile reception.
